Fort Benning Community Spouses' Club

FRIENDSHIP, UNITY and CHARITY

About CFC

The Community Spouses’ Club is open to spouses or widows/widowers of all US Military ID card holders, to include Active duty, Reserve or National Guard Components, Retirees, Civilian Employees of the Department of Defense and their spouses.

About CFC

The Community Spouses' Club (CFC) is a combined community spouses' organization that operates on Fort Benning, GA. The focus of our group is two-fold.  Our group strives to enhance the lives of the spouses stationed here at Fort Benning who reside in the Tri-community area, or whose spouse is assigned here. We do this through monthly luncheons and dinners hosted by CFC.  Annual events that are sponsored by CFC include the Benning Bazaar, Tour of Homes, and a reception for scholarship recipients.  Secondly, the CFC works to support the communities in which we live.  Financial support is provided to any local organization which demonstrates a need.  The Thrift shop is the main fundraiser along with The Bit of Benning Gift Shop for the CFC.  Run by volunteers, they are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  The Thrift shop offers a wide variety of gently used items such as jewelry, linens, furniture, clothing, photos, lamps, rugs and much more. The Bit of Benning Gift Shop carries collectibles, craft items, Ft. Benning and Georgia memorabilia and a few antiques that make great gifts or keepsakes.  The profits raised from both shops are donated to both the Welfare and Scholarship funds.  We also accept outside donations.

Reasons to Join CSC

A reason to participate in CFC is for the opportunity to branch out and meet a diverse and interesting group of people. You can simply attend the luncheons to visit members or you can become more involved and work on the board or one of the various committees. Meeting, making friends and sharing experiences is one of the highlights of the CFC experiences. You will hear helpful suggestions about getting things accomplished on post, travel advice, traditions and cultural events happening in the south, tips on great shopping spots and much more.

Other excellent reasons to join CFC are the many, varied activities that are sponsored, from sport groups to craft projects. Receiving the monthly Communiqué (our newsletter) with all of its valuable information is a great help to those living here. Lastly, on our list of great reasons to join, is that you will be given a phone directory of members' numbers, plus other helpful post numbers that we all call frequently. **Remember your membership form and dues must be submitted by the middle of September in order to be included in the directory.

Our Members

Our members are truly a diverse bunch, a mix of all services and civilians. We are Army, Navy, Marine and Air Force officers and enlisted spouses, both active duty and retired. We are DOD civilian employees and their spouses. Where can you ever meet such a varied group of people? Community Spouses’ Club is one of the most rewarding organizations you can join in South East Georgia. Our main fund raising arm, The Thrift Shop and Bit of Benning gift shop, makes thousands of dollars each year. We donate half of the money to our Welfare projects and Scholarships. CFC members can serve on the CFC board, work in either store on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, or sit on one of the various committees.  Whether by working or shopping and spending money at the Thrift shop or Bit of Benning gift shop, you become a part of the gifts we donate. Of course you also meet some of the wonderful people who work or shop there. Our organization generates other funds from our annual Benning Bazzaar.
